Duties and responsibilities: The Seven Areas of Responsibility are a comprehensive set of Competencies and Sub-competencies defining the role of the health education specialist. These Responsibilities were verified through the 2010 Health Educator Job Analysis Project and serve as the basis of the CHES exam beginning in April 2011 and the MCHES exam in October 2011.

Salary: This chart describes the expected percentage of people who perform the job of Health Educator in the United States that make less than that annual salary. For example the median expected annual pay for a typical Health Educator in the United States is $58,915 so 50% of the people who perform the job of Health Educator in the United Sates are expected to make less than $58,915.

Education: Health educators promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. They collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments.
